Guy Lundy

Guy Lundy is a futurist, strategy consultant, and professional speaker. He is the co-author of South Africa: Reasons to Believe and the co-editor of South Africa 2014: The Story of our Future.

Guy is the Managing Director of Centric Consulting, a corporate strategy consultancy and the CEO of Accelerate Cape Town, a business-led initiative aimed at bringing together stakeholders in the Cape Town region to develop and implement a long-term vision for sustainable, inclusive economic growth.

In 2001 Guy Lundy gave a speech entitled I Pledge Allegiance, which quickly turned into a viral email, being sent around the world by South Africans wanting a positive perspective on what we have achieved as a nation. The massive response to that speech led Guy to co-author the book "South Africa: A Reason to Believe". More recently he has co-produced the book "South Africa 2014: The Story of Our Future" with the editors of South Africa the Good News.

Guy has previously worked for international firms such as Ernst & Young, Oracle, the London Stock Exchange and Dimension Data. He is an active member of several international organisations, such as Mensa, the World Future Society, the National Speakers Association and Toastmasters International.

Accelerate Cape Town was started by a group of business leaders brought together by a common concern over the lack of pace and direction of change in the Cape. They agreed that a common long-term vision and future strategy were needed for the region, and that "big business" should play a leading role in developing and implementing them.

They seek to mobilise the combined expertise, influence and enthusiasm of our members to drive delivery of a long term socio-economic growth agenda for the Cape region. Through our different projects we aim to:
Accelerate economic growth in the city and region
Promote the city and region as a prime locality for investment
Effectively represent the views of big business
Establish a vibrant network of leaders in business, government, education and other stakeholders
Set up and maintain constructive partnerships.

Guy was born and raised in Cape Town. He holds Bachelor of Social Science and Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) degrees in Economics from the University of Cape Town, and a Masters degree in Futures Studies from the University of Stellenbosch, which he attained Cum Laude.
