Andy Xie is a renowned Economist and is currently director of Boqi Environmental Sciences, based in Shanghai.

Andy is one of the few economists who accurately predicted some of the economic bubbles including the South East Asian Financial Crisis (1997) and the US Subprime Financial Crisis (2008).

Andy Xie is a renowned Economist and is currently director of Boqi Environmental Sciences, based in Shanghai.

Andy is one of the few economists who accurately predicted some of the economic bubbles including the South East Asian Financial Crisis (1997) and the US Subprime Financial Crisis (2008).

He joined Morgan Stanley in 1997 and held the role of Managing Director and Head of Asia Pacific Economics until 2006. Prior to that he spent two years with Macquarie Bank in Singapore, where he was an associate director in corporate finance.

Andy earlier spent five years as an economist with the World Bank, which he joined through the Young Professionals Program. He was responsible for the World Bank programs in industry and finance in Indonesia and telecom and power programs in several other Asia-Pacific countries.

He is currently a columnist for the South China Morning Post, The New Century Weekly and Bloomberg.
